Who writes these guides

BJJ-LAB is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy in Caracas, Venezuela. Our head instructor is Rodrigo Felizola, a black belt (second degree). The academy's own site, in Spanish, is at labsbjj.com.

Why guides in English

Running an academy means paying for things that have nothing to do with jiu-jitsu: software to bill members, insurance for the mat, equipment. The pages that answer those questions are mostly written by the companies selling the answer. These guides are written by people who teach on a mat and sell none of it.

How we work

• Prices from the source. Every figure is read on the vendor's or insurer's own published page, and the guide links to it.
• A date on every guide. "Checked against the source" is the day we last read those pages. Prices change; the date tells you how old ours are.
• The arithmetic shown. Totals by school size are calculated from the published rates, not estimated.
• What we couldn't confirm, said. When a vendor only quotes on a call, the guide says so instead of guessing.

What we don't do

No company pays to be listed, ranked or reviewed here, and the guides carry no affiliate links. These pages show ads served by Google AdSense; advertisers don't choose or see what we write. See our privacy policy for how those ads use cookies.
